4 Stars! The story follows Amaya who is a 'fixer', she handles cases when peoples reputations are at risk and stuff like that. If anyone watches Scandal she reminded me a lot like Olivia Pope. Super bad-ass and good at her job. When her friend comes to her with a dilemma, Amaya takes on the case. But she needs the help of an old lover, and enemy. Trace. I really liked Trace's character, but I did think he should have been a bit more mad at Amaya for her little secret... Trace was definitely and alpha male, but unfortunately the story focused more on the case than their relationship, i would have liked to see a bit more of the romance aspect."I should probably warn you, my love isn't roses and champagne. I'm obsessive, jealous, and controlling, but I'm faithful and I'll be here when you need someone."The story did feel a bit rushed and I felt that with the way the story was set and the type of plot scheme was designed for a more full length novel. Too much happening in such a short story.I am loving all these quick releases, keep 'em coming Suzanne Steele!
I have read several books in the past by this author. What I failed to remember is her unique writing style. She has a story, within a story with the antagonist point of view. I felt like a lot was going on and you had to be right on top of things to keep up. One of MY major pet peeves is a secret baby story where the father is deliberately left out of the child's life. As I've said in the past, unless the father is abusive or dangerous to you/child's life, he has a right to know. Amaya made a choice to not tell him. I wonder if she hadn't needed his help if she would have told him at all. The main character (Trace and Amaya) had a ONS years prior and her actions after causes a lot of anger from Trace. So, initially they are hateful to each other, but they each want the other so it's not long before they are horizontal. Now, before she has a chance to tell him, he comes face to face with his little boy. Active bossy alpha mode. He was full throttle alpha. We are talking dirty talking, bossy....the works-bossy sexy alpha police office -just ok heroine for me. I just didn't warm up to her, even after she apologized to Trace-a couple steamy sex scenes -no cheating or OW/OM drama-cute epilogue about a year(?)or so out
I love that I can always count on Suzanne Steele to give me a great book. That's very rare nowadays, most seem to be hit or miss but she's been a constant for me for a long while. I'm always engrossed in her books from start to finish and pretty much fall in love with her heroes. She writes about men ... real men not boys pretending to be men. They are strong, sexy, devoted Alpha men who know how to take care of their women in and out of bed. Amaya is a "fixer" (think of a female Ray Donovan) she works for people who have dirty little secrets and she helps to bury them. Her clients come from all walks of life from politicians to an everyday hooker. Shelda used to be a hooker with an asshole for a pimp and when she discovered she was pregnant most likely by her pimp she asked Amaya for help. Amaya helped her straighten her life out and she ended up marrying a successful lawyer who treated her child as his own. The two women became good friends and now Shelda's 3 year old daughter has been kidnapped. Amaya knows a police detective who is great at his job and her best bet to finding her friend's daughter. Amaya and Trace Channing met 4 years ago working on a case together and had one night of amazing sex that left an impact on both of them. Trace was all ready to start a relationship with Amaya so when she bad-mouthed him publicly at a press conference he was shocked. They had an incredible night together so why would she disappear and avoid him for four years ? Now she shows up out of the blue after all this time and has the nerve to ask for his help knowing he can't say no when it comes to kids.
2nd chanceI love the ending . Its a story of vengeance , forgiveness, and second chances. Sometimes we do things because we think it's for the best. Then we have to face the consequences , if we are lucky we gain a HEA.
Second chanceLoved this quick read! If you are a fan of Suzanne you will love this book. Unlike her other books this has all new characters, but still the heroine and alpha we love from her books.
The fixer and the copThis was different from any other of Suzanne Steeles work...but just as amazing..we get our fierce heroine and alpha male with a new story line and twist..loved it and highly recommend!!
OmgWay to short !!! Great read no cheating second chance love story with an alpha male and secret baby everything you could want plus a great story line
Enjoyed this story. Ms. Steele's books usually suck me in from the beginning and this was one was no different.
Five stars for sure!!!No spoilers from me. I love every book this author has written. This is excellent. Love always triumphs even if it's a bumpy ride to get there
