Ali has come to Greg for help in finding her friend Michele, a radical environmentalist who has recently gone missing. Ali believes a shady politician is connected to her friend's disappearance. I really liked this extra-long novel! (the fact that the author and I share the same name didn't hurt). It's a thrilling and surprisingly informative adventure that moves from the shores of Palm Beach County, Florida to Sag Harbor and Greenwich, Connecticut before going back to Florida and the Bahamas. There were a few "slower" parts but there's something for almost anyone among the 13 chapters. As a dog person, I found Rainie the chocolate Lab to be one of my favorite characters. Ali, one of the main characters, is so beautiful!! I can't even imagine who would be cast in her role if this ever became a movie. The author has great attention to detail, I thought I was really in the various places where the story is set. I had no idea how much the Hamptons depends on local aquifers for its drinking water, perhaps all of that expensive real estate is even more over-priced than I realized. A must read for anyone who lives in south Florida, the New York tri-state, or the east end of Long Island.
