2.5 starsIt was MEH for me *shrugs*. Neither characters or story stood out -- and I though the whole issue with Doug's brother back home in America felt disjointed. It felt like a very heavy family issue that just didn't click with the vibe of this story being a holiday romance. It could've been a shorter and fluffy kind of holiday romance too. But because of that family issue, the story felt unbalanced for me. Plus a bit too much sex scenes that distracted me from the story (although I ended up skimming those, nothing new there *yawn*). The Italy setting was nice though.

3.5 stars. This story is in fact two stories meshed into one. And unfortunately they clash. Not much but enough. The rivals-to-friends-to-lovers story is a basic holiday fling with hot sex and an upbeat tone. The side story is about a missing family member, plus the death of another, which is a downer. Like mixing uppers and downers, the end result falls flat on both.As a sweet, fluffy romance this is okay. The blooming bromance is cute and sexy. I suggest skipping the sadder side story.
