Obsessed with vengeance, Reaper is largely indifferent to reports of what the media have labeled SuperSARS , a virulent pandemic sweeping westwards from China. It is the apocalypse that everyone predicted, but no one believed would ever happen. It wipes out 98 percent of the world's population as well as every vestige of government, law enforcement, and civilized society. Still traumatized by the loss of their loved ones, many now simply struggle to survive while hoping rebuild a decent life for themselves in a world full of fear and uncertainty; where every town and city is a hell of shadows, smoke, and distant screams; where feral gangs simply take what they want and savagery is rife. All Jim Reaper had ever wanted to do was take his revenge and then die. But the fates that have taken the lives of so many others have different plans for Reaper: his destiny is to become an instrument of both salvation and retribution in a torn and desperate land....

Jim Reaper is determined to avenge the rape of his 14 year old daughter after finding out the man who committed the act is out after only three years. He's so wrapped up in avenging that he fails to notice the super-SARS virus that is spreading astronomically around him. There's only two kinds of people left - the criminally minded hell bent on doing as they please and the one's hoping to restart civilisation. Can civilisation rebuild itself or is it doomed for extinction?I didn't hold much hope out for this book there was just something about it's blurb that didn't get me excited, it sounded a bit dull. I was wrong. It was just amazing. It was a well written, exciting, fast paced action thriller that ended up being a page turner that I could not put down. It's hard to imagine what the world would be like with 98% of the world's population perished, no law and order and every man for himself. Jon Grahame did a superb job with creating the scene and tension of total anarchy.I loved the characters, they all had their own unique personalities - whether good or bad. Reaper was a fantastic protagonist. He was brave, daring and always in the heart of the action. He didn't think he was worth much but he was looked upon with respect and admiration by his fellow community. I wanted him to find the happiness he deserved. I also loved his right-hand man, Sandra. Her fierce loyalty and devotion was awe-inspiring. Some parts of the book are moving and even brought a small tear to my eye. There were parts where you were left guessing but after that it was obvious. You knew there was going to be some fast paced action, some blood shed and ultimately death for some. The action scenes were written extremely well, almost to the point where you could have been peering out of a window watching it all before your eyes.

I won this through Good Reads First ReadsJim Reaper is hell bent on revenge ... the monster who raped his 14 year old daughter is out of prison barely 3 years later and Reaper wants to make him pay. So engrossed is he in his revenge plans that he fails to notice that Super-SARS is hitting the population hard. Those that are left form two factions - those who want to live peacefully, grieve and rebuild and those that will take whatever they want by force. Reaper must decide on which side of the line he stands.Absolutely grips from page one and speeds along till the finale. Brilliant - thriller writing at its best!

This book was quite a departure for me to read. It was an interesting quick read and I found myself curious to see how the book would progress. I found myself accepting what had happened (even though my mind kept trying to imagine the situation). I kept feeling the story could be bigger than the book. if that can be said! It made me question other things that could happen. I enjoyed this book and was left wondering what the next instalment would be but this could be more of the same and yet bring us back to square one again. It is harsh and thought provoking with an insight into the animals we really are.

I was slightly apprehensive before I read this, but being a copy sent to me by GoodReads, I thought I would. I think the start was a bit slow, but once I'd got through a couple of chapters it was an unputtable down book and I had finished it within 1 day. There is a story in the book for us all to wonder about - what if we live in a post-apolyptic state with no law enforcement - It makes you think

Seems like a young adult novella.Yet another dystopian future; this one the result of some mysterious disease.A rather pedestrian rendition of the various responses to a complete societal breakdown. There is a military establishment, a dictatorship, a consensus colony and lots of groups that think pacifism will prevail. The whole thing sets up a sequel. Not bad but not particularly engaging.

won this book via goodreads giveaways and I am very glad I entered. the whole mix of personal greif set in a dystopian post apocalyptic future is an amazing combination, and one that Jon Grahame pulls off really well. I could not put this book down and it took less that 8 hours to finish I was that enthralled.

I got this as a giveaway with goodreads. What a terrific read! The action comes think and fast but the writing style is very good, the dialogue sincere and the characters well-developed and believable. There were a few tense moments when I thought "uhoh" but there are some softer character-building type bits too. I will definitely be finishing this trilogy, a first class read.

I won this through Good Reads First Reads. An interesting combination of revenge thriller and post-apocalyptic science fiction that speculates on the immediate aftermath of a worldwide pandemic wiping out most of humanity. Fast paced and filled with suspense, a definite page turner.
