the golden bough a study in magic and religion the golden bough 2 Reviews
Frazer dünyanın her yerinden derlediği örneklere dinlerin, mitlerin, ayinlerin kökenlerini açıklama girişiminde bulunuyor. Özellikle mit ve ritüel arasında kurduğu bağlantı çok sarsıcı. Antropoloji, mitoloji gibi konulara ilgi duyanlar için temel bir kitap.
This is the closest I can find to the edition I read. My copy was a 612 page public domain digital copy with a preface from Frazer dated June 1922. I've given it four stars, not for the writing style, though at times it was very direct and even humorous or blunt, but for the content. It is a study of the history of humankind's attempt to understand the world, life and itself first through magic then to religion and on to science. Fraser writing at the turn of the 20th century states that he in no way sees science as the end of this journey, he wonders what mode of understanding will follow. Good for him!
