alice s story Reviews
This was a much different story from other Kathleen Ball romances. It is the prequel to Texas Haven. I read Texas Haven first. Texas Haven is where I first met Alice, whom I disliked from the very beginning. And though I disliked her based on her actions in Texas Haven, there was not much back story on her. That is what Alice's Story is - Alice's back story and how she came to meet and marry Burke Dawson. And though Burke is still the sweet, compassionate man we love in Texas Haven, we learn why he had originally given up on love in the beginning of Texas Haven - because Alice royally screwed him over - financially and emotionally. You will love to hate Alice in her story, and whether you have already read Texas Haven or intend to, Alice's Story is a must-read.Kudos to Ms. Ball for trying her hand at a prequel - it was a job well-done.
Poor Burke, I just don't know what more to say then poor Burke. Again we learn the lesson to get to know before you take things at face value. This was a different love story. Sad but true this happens more then people think. Lord the twist and turns in this, you wonder how one person could be like this. How can one live with ones else and keep expecting more. I kept expecting things to even out but NOPE that doesn't happen. I kept expecting the women to know she was messing up a good thing, but NOPE that doesn't happen. Ms. Ball you fooled me and not many people do, well done. This book is short but worth the read. You will be so mad you want to kill Alice. The author bring out all you heart strings for Burke. I sure hope he finds love and his family his so much wants. I look forward to reading more from this author.Taking hat off, bowing down to this author...I just do not do that easy.
What a fabulous book! I read Texas Haven first and loved it, but reading Alice's Story whetted my appetite to reread Texas Haven. Alice is a piece of work. While she's not the nicest person, you feel sympathy for her considering her background. Burke is such a hunk, what a hot guy. Their relationship is steamy, drawing me in. I was rooting for them. Can't give away the ending, but I loved the writing, the depth of the characters, the great supporting characters and the way the plot sucked me in. it kept me on the edge of my chair. I recommend this story highly. It will have you drooling for the next book, Texas Haven. I'm headed there now.
Excellent prequel to this series:) How someone can be that selfish is beyond belief.
Alice wanted to marry for money. Burke Dawson looked just right! He was handsome and he owned a working ranch. I t was love at first sight! This was definitely not the story that I was expecting! I was looking for predictable and that was not I found. I loved the story because it kept me guessing about how the characters could resolve their differences.I am an East Texas girl and always feel at home when reading Kathleen Ball books. I enjoy her descriptions of the land and the people. I look forward to reading more of the Dawson Ranch series and recommend this series to anyone who enjoys hot western romance!
Don't be fooled by love at first sightA fast-paced story of two people who meet and marry within a few days believing that they fell in love at first sight. He is your basic good old country boy and she is looking for a rich man to throw in her mother's face. The author draws you into the character of each one and honestly makes you want to choke Alice for all of her deceit and schemes making Burke leery of women and bitter. Can't wait to read the sequel.
HorribleDon't readStory was going somewhere don't need a continuation. No stars for this book. I had to say 1 but not deserve ed d I do like the author and think she has potential. Not romantic so shouldn't have purchased under that section
I'm so happy to read Alice's story! I knew I didn't like her, and her story confirmed my feelings for her! Great read!
great writing from Kathleen Ball, but with every chapter I hated Alice more and more. This is the first book I read in the series, and I am assuming New York city girl Annie is the girl for Burke.
ewwww to people like Alice.
