I thought it was an ok read. The heroine gets a grant to open her own bakery (her lifelong dream) in the town of Bygone, Kansas. The hero, recently laid off from his job, was denied a grant to open his own mechanic shop. So of course he's a bit resentful to the out-of-towners who did get approved. Because he has no other choice he ends up working at the bakery. I was annoyed with the heroine. Every time he suggested something she rubbed in the fact that it was her bakery. Hero is struggling with feelings of inadequacy because he wants to have a family but can't support one with what he makes, so her rubbing it in was salt on the wound. So hero decides he needs something that can pay more so he can save enough to open his shop. This is were the book lost a star, the heroine gets hurt because she thinks that if the hero pursues another career it means that he doesn't care about her or her dream. She never, not once, thought, cared, or asked about his dreams. I think it's important to share that with someone you want to have a family with. As with many romances, a lot of hurt feelings would have been avoided if they had sat down and discussed things. Will I read another book by this author? Maybe, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't good enough to make it stand out from the other books I've read this year.

A very stirring story of two head strong persons trying to fulfill their individual dreams. Both are from totally was born, raised and worked until the plant closed in the small town of Bygones; the other was "A City Slicker" coming to town where an unknown donor offered to start up her dream of owning a bakery. Conflict ensues when one goes to work for the other. The characters are unique, strong individuals. The concept of the town committee bringing new business to town via a mysterious donor is unique. Each of the characters tries to control their own dreams and plans. They find out that it is letting go of that control and handing it over to God is the only way to succeed. We all need to be remembering that in this day and age.

A fun little continuity series about a mysterious donor who is trying to keep the town of Bygones alive. 6 new business's (all but one are strangers to the town) have received money with the stipulation that they stay in town for 2 years and hire locals to work with them. This is book 2 about Melissa and her bakery that wants to be different so she doesn't serve donuts. What? No donuts? Brian had applied for one of the business grants because he'd always dreamed of having his own mechanic shop and now the factory he worked at has closed down. His grandfather has returned to live with him and he's pushed into a corner and grudgingly accepts Melissa's job for an assistant because he wasn't approved for a slot. Although there is quite a bit of conflict between them, they do finally start working together to build the business and there just might be some donuts soon.

As Melissa Sweeney steps into her dream of owning her own business, she discovers that the time and energy needed is more than she bargained for. Working through a list of recruits, Melissa hires the reluctant Brian Monclair to help out at the bakery. But his attitude about the whole thing is anything but sweet. As they learn to work together, Brian steeped in humiliation and Melissa focused on control, a romance blossoms between them, making them second guess everything about the way life is supposed to go.This well researched story offers readers the true insight into what it means to mesh together as one. I came away from the story with a new appreciation for the beauty of relational compromise. I highly recommend this Love Inspired installment for anybody looking for a treat.

There's a lot of tension between the two main characters, Melissa and Brian; one really needs a job, and the other a good employee, but neither one is happy with the situation from the start. Eventually they work out their misunderstandings and expectations, sometimes through funny situations.Once I started to finally feel a connection with the story, the book went fast. It might help to read the first one in the series to get more of a background on their town.An enjoyable read overall! Rating is 3.5 starsHaving won this from a Goodreads giveaway, I found this to be a somewhat lighthearted romance that incorporated some angst and tension between Melissa and Brian. I thought this to be quite sweet, and a very "Harlequin" type HEA romance. It was a quick, easy read, a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

This was a really sweet book. I myself think it would be amazing to own a bakery, so I could really relate to Melissa. This book actually has some surprising twists and turns, so even though it would seem predicable, I actually wasn't sure how everything was going to pan out.

Even though I am not what you would call a religious person I've really enjoyed this series you get a good romance. And one thing i have noticed is that all though faith is a ficsture in these books the authors do a good job not overdoing and becoming preachy.
