    There seems to be a trend in recent Canadian Middle Grade novels discussing child homelessness. This was an engaging and moving look at one girl's desperate effort to survive on the street while still holding onto the belief that her mother is out there somewhere and will return for her. A strong, resourceful heroine makes this novel worth reading.
