the revenge date romantic comedy Reviews
The Revenge Date seemed to be a promising read. Lots of opportunity for a bit of girly humour and general romantic fun. I could have even gotten over the many typos but alas, there were several elements that took the story in a completely different direction from the fun 'romantic comedy' it was supposed to be. From the offset I got that the main character Rosie was into sex (and lots of it). I really didn't see why the author had to be so candid about Rosie's sexual exploits throughout the book. In fact I don't think I ever warmed to liked her character and her unwarranted arrogance. She was supposedly gorgeous but seriously, there are lots of gorgeous girls out there who aren't selfish sluts with no direction in life. Would it kill the author to give her some depth? Even if she started off as a horrible person, the character Rosie needed to grow through the book and from what I read, she didn't. Did she ever really find a life direction in the end btw? I don't think so!Anyway, there were just too many little deviating, confusing story lines that ultimately sums up to be a story about finding love although I didn't get any romantic connection between her and her love interest, Alex, other than her private lust for him and a few conversations in which he doesn't seem to be interested in her sexually. What a short, weird book with an abrupt 'The End'.
There were a lot of grammatical and spelling errors in this book that took me out of the story and that really bothered me. Overall the story was ok. Not fantastic, but I've read worse (hence the 3 stars). I felt the ending was a bit rushed, to the point where after I finished, I found my self thinking "really?! that's how it ends!!!" Also, Rosie is supposed to be this drop dead gorgeous girl who gets every man's attention and after it was repeated for the 20th time, I found myself suppressing eye rolls. It was supposed to be a romantic comedy, but I didn't find myself laughing (or even smiling).
There are a lot of errors, particularly towards the end. It's a silly, light hearted read that smacks of improbability but if you don't plan to take it seriously you should be able to enjoy parts of it.
Another fluffy one...
This book was predictable and the main character was a spoiled brat. It was also riddled with errors and didn't flow properly. I'm glad it was a short book and I'm glad it's finished
cute and funny!
Pretty satisfying chick-lit, but there were a number of grammar and spelling errors that took away from the story for me.
The main character was very likable, and the story line was good as well. Nothing extraordinary, but still entertaining.
